Gathering and Other Gifts

How does Gathering interface with other gifts? Is there a pure Gatherer gift?

And He gave some as apostles, some as prophets, some as evangelists, some as pastors and teachers, for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the building up of the body of Christ; until we all attain to the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a mature man, to the measure of the stature which belongs to the fullness of Christ.  Ephesians 4:11-13 (NASB)

Gathering is a behavior that blends with other New Testament expressions like spiritual gifting, vocation and calling. It might look like someone who is:

Apostolically wired – who gathers: A – Gatherer

Prophetically wired – who gathers: P – Gatherer

Evangelistically wired – who gathers: E – Gatherer

Shepherd wired – who gathers: S – Gatherer

Teacher wired – who gathers: T – Gatherer

When we define gathering as a simple behavior, we bring a lot of clarity to the table. Some engage this behavior in simple, powerful ways. They bring people into Jesus’ mission. They all have differing spiritual gifts, differing vocations and differing callings; but they have one thing in common: they are living the behavior we call gathering.

How about you? How can you use your gift, vocation, or calling to gather to Jesus’ mission?
